Branko, Enchufada label boss and Buraka Som Sistema founding member, curated the music for a series of Suco Sessions in Desigual inBeta’s brand space at Sónar 2019.
The Project
As official sponsor of Sónar 2019, Desigual created a brand space with interactive installations, where digital art, body-painting, lighting and music, came together offering an immersive experience for the audience.
The main activation was a series of 30 minute Suco Sessions that took place at Sónar by Day throughout 3 days. Meditation, yoga and dancing were brought together by Jamie Beron, guiding the attendees and helping them loosen up and express themselves freely, dancing unashamedly and connecting with the people around them.
For the activation, Desigual required us to update Suco’s music selection in order to make it fit in the Sónar context. The new track-list had to respect Suco’s identity and sonic needs, as well as stay relevant to the festival.
Our Work
Desigual wanted an artist performing at Sónar to curate the new music selection for the Suco’s experience. Given Jamie Beron’s South African origin and the overall vibe of his sessions, Branko appeared to be an ideal choice for the project.
We managed the music curation process between Branko and Suco in order to ensure that the new selection worked for Suco’s session while maintaining his identity, as well as keeping it within Branko’s sonic palette. The result was a 9 track playlist that captured all the emotional and rhythmic intensity levels Suco required to navigate through his experience.
The activation was complemented by OnionLab’s immersive visuals that covered the floor and walls of the main space with unique designs and animations for each track.
We also took care of the Licensing of Branko’s track ‘Movimiento’ for Desigual’s Sónar Aftermovie and social media content around the activation.
